Sidley Austin Brown & Wood expands FDI/M&A in Shanghai
Tang Zhengyu, previously a partner and head of the China practice at an international law firm in Beijing and Shanghai, joined the firm's China Practice of 60 lawyers on 25 May 2002. He and his team will focus on foreign direct investment (FDI), and mergers and aquisitions (M&A).
Tang's team includes Margaret Lo an Australian lawyer, Leo Hu a US lawyer and PRC consultant Ling Chen, a PRC lawyer. Admitted in the US and PRC, Tang has LLM and JD degrees and has practised commercial law with leading PRC, U.S. and U.K. firms since 1986.
He has assisted numerous multinationals in negotiating and establishing foreign investment enterprises in China as well as advising on corporate restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, equity transfers, liquidation and dissolution involving foreign investments, as well as regulatory matters related to banking, secured transactions, foreign exchange control, tax, technology transfers, land use rights and real estate, and employment matters.
Tang's PRC corporate practice is increasingly focused on FDI and M&A-related work and strategic venture capital investments in China's high-tech sectors and booming private industries. Tang also has expertise in dispute resolution having successfully represented foreign clients before CIETAC, as well as in a variety of administrative proceedings. He has advised international and PRC companies in significant litigious matters related to high-tech development and IP matters, as well as international and domestic trade and investment disputes.
