TJ hooks new role at Merrill
The US investment bank has promoted Timothy (TJ) Bond as its new head of Asiapac economics.
Bond has covered Korea and Taiwan since 2000 when he joined the bank from the International Monetary Fund in Washington. While at the IMF, he focused on several Asian countries during the regional crisis as well as other programmes in Turkey and the Middle East. Prior to this, he served as an advisor to Indonesia's central bank and finance ministry.
Continuing to be based out of Hong Kong, Bond will report to Hun Soo Kim, head of Asiapac research and chief economist Bruce Steinberg, who oversees global economics research.
He will also help develop macro-equity research with Spencer White, who serves as regional equity strategist.
