The DKW exodus begins: ING Barings hires senior economist

Chia Woon Khien has been appointed senior regional economist.

Hot on the heels of reports that Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein (DKW) is closing its Asian operations, and headhunters become deluged by staff CVs, ING Barings has announced a key hire from the group.

Chia Woon Khien, DKW's former regional foreign exchange and fixed income strategist ex-Japan, has been appointed senior regional economist covering Southeast Asia.

Bringing 11 years of experience with her, Khien will be responsible for identifying investment ideas and trading strategies for the region. The position will be based in Singapore.

Khien has also held positions at Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken, Union Bank of Switzerland, IDEA and the Monetary Authority of Singapore.
