Northern Trust hires two in Hong Kong
Northern Trust has named Michael Tee as director of sales and services and Tony Leung as risk and performance consultant. The two men will be based at the bank's Hong Kong headquarters.
Tee will spearhead Northern Trust's business development in the North Asia region to provide integrated solutions to institutional investor clients including government bodies, pension funds, investment managers and financial institutions. He will also oversee the client administration team in Hong Kong.
A custody veteran, Tee worked in a variety of sales positions for European settlement agent and depository Clearstream, spending time in Hong Kong, Singapore, China, Taiwan and Southeast Asia. Prior to Clearstream, he worked for DBS Bank's private banking department.
Tony Leung takes on the newly created position of risk and performance consultant and will be charged with providing specialist support in risk management and performance analytics to Northern Trust's Asian clients.
Leung joins the bank from AIG Investment Corporation were he was associate director of investment performance analytics. He has also worked for HSBC Asset Management as well as Bank of Bermuda and Wardley Investment Services in similar functions.
Speaking about the hires, the head of Northern Trust's Asian operations, Lawrence Au, said: "These two appointments will help us to position ourselves more effectively for growing opportunities in Hong Kong and Asia and to distinguish our service delivery in line with out tradition of quality and service excellence."
