New ECM head for Cazenove
John Chu has become Cazenove's new head of Asian ECM following the departure of Wilson Kwong to CLSA late last year.
Chu was most recently a key member of ING's ECM team prior to its purchase by Macquarie. Chu had been at ING since 1999, working under co-heads Paul Kelly and Craig Duffy. Prior to this he was at UBS and Jardine Fleming in Asia and Nomura in London.
At ING, Chu's main focus was Taiwan, but Cazenove's main niche is greater China so he will now have a much wider remit dealing with small and mid-cap companies in Hong Kong and China. So far this year, Cazenove has done a number of placements including deals for Kowloon Development and the sale of BOCI's stake in Standard Chartered.
He will report to Cazenove's two Asian partners May Tan and Carmen Hsu. Tan is CEO of the firm and Hsu is head of corporate finance.
