Greater China head at Barclays Wealth on way out
Barclays Wealth is losing Greater China head Carol Chen, who is working out her notice, say sources, amid plans for team restructuring. Further team structure changes are expected shortly.
Chen joined Barclays from UBS in 2011 as market head of Greater China in what was a newly created role. She had led the UK firm’s drive to expand its coverage of Greater China to the Lion City, as reported.
Her remit at Barclays included advising private clients on mergers and acquisitions, capital-raising and risk management.
AsianInvestor could not ascertain her next move by press time. Barclays declined to comment.
Initially based in Singapore, Chen was promoted to market head of the firm’s Greater China operations and relocated to Hong Kong in October 2013, where she oversaw the firm’s Singapore and Hong Kong teams.
Chen previously worked for UBS from 2007 based in Singapore, where she was head of its Taiwan international desk in charge of a team of 13. Prior to that she worked for HSBC Private Bank covering the China client segment.
