Wong departs SMBC for Standard Chartered

Bank hires new associate director for its Northeast Asia loan distribution team.

Standard Chartered has lured Joanne Wong to its Hong Kong operations as an associate director in its Northeast Asia loan distribution team. In the newly created role, Wong will report to Grance Wong, Standard Chartered's head of distribution for Northeast Asia.

Wong moves to Standard Chartered from SMBC where she was most recently vice president in the debt capital markets team. Holding this position at SMBC since 2000, she was responsible for loan origination and distribution across the Asia-Pacific region.

Commenting on the appointment, Grance Wong says, "As we continue to strengthen our capabilities in the global syndications business, strong distribution capabilities in Hong Kong and across Northeast Asia are important to ensure in-depth coverage of partner banks in the region and to enhance the bank's ability to lead and underwrite transactions for key borrowers."
