Standard Chartered appoints two in wholesale bank

Karen Fawcett and Alex Thursby answer the call of new roles.

Standard Chartered has rolled out two senior appointments in its wholesale banking division, anointing Karen Fawcett and Alex Thursby with new titles in Singapore.

Fawcett takes on the post of group head of transaction banking and will oversee all of the transaction banking's sales and product management teams, which consist of cash management, trade services, securities services and channel management solution delivery.

Reporting to Mike Rees, CEO of Standard Chartered's wholesale bank, Fawcett is promoted from her prior role as global head of strategy for the wholesale bank, a title she held since 2003.

Thursby assumes the role of group head of client relationships, with global responsibility for wholesale bank clients and will also report to Rees. He replaces Jaspal Beindra, who taken on the role of Standard Chartered's regional general manager for South Asia.

Previously, he was head of client relationships Northeast Asia and was responsible for the strategic direction of the corporate and institutional customer franchise in Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Korea and Japan.

Both appointments take effect from March.
