Standard Chartered appoints Chow to new role

In a shakeup of the HK wholesale banking division, Gloria Chow is named head of client relationships.

Standard Chartered’s Hong Kong wholesale banking division has announced that Gloria Chow will be appointed head of client relationships, Hong Kong. From February 1, Chow will report to Alex Thursby, head of client relationships, Northeast Asia and will depart her current position as head of local corporates and Pearl River Delta, client relationships.

The newly created position will free up Thursby, who used to run both roles, to concentrate on client relationships for Northeast Asia. According to Standard Chartered, she moves to the position with an outstanding performance and proven track record in driving business growth behind well put together strategies in the local corporates segment.

Upon moving to the new role, Chow will remain a member in Standard Chartered’s Hong Kong management committee (HK MANCO) and its Hong Kong executive committee (HK EXCO).

Following Chow’s reshuffling, the existing local corporates in Hong Kong will be reorganised into two segments. Edek Ho will take on the title of head, local corporates, while Ivy Au Yeung has been appointed head, emerging middle market. Previously, they were joint heads of local corporates and in the new role they will continuing reporting directly to Chow.
