SSB and Citibank appoint new global loans head for Asia

Mohsin Nathani will be the new head of global loans in Asia for Citibank and Salomon Smith Barney.

Nathani, who hails from ABN Amro, takes over from Avi Bindra who has announced his retirement from Citigroup, but will be staying until the end of the year to facilitate a smooth handover of his position.

Nathani has 11 years' banking experience, and most recently headed ABN Amro's loan syndication and structured finance business in Asia Pacific, based in Singapore.

Nathani's appointment coincides with the relocation of the Citigroup's global loans team in Asia to the new fixed income trading floor at Salomon Smith Barney in Hong Kong. Nathani will report to Atiq ur Rehman, managing director and head of global loans for Europe and Asia, who remarked on the relocation: "We have had a great success with integration of our loans and capital markets teams in Europe. We intend to use a similar model in Asia. We have a top ranked loan syndication business here which will complement our product platform in the region."
