SG CIB oils up coverage
SG Corporate & Investment Banking (SG CIB) veteran Philippe Fournier will lead the investment bank's oil and gas coverage for Asia-Pacific from Hong Kong. The senior appointment will add more mileage to Fourrnier's thirty years of commodity finance experience, which has predominately been served in the energy, oil and gas sectors.
As SG CIB's head of oil and gas coverage for the Asia-Pacific region, he will report to both Michel Macagno, chief executive officer of the bank in Asia-Pacific and Thomas-Craig Bennett, global head of the oil and gas client sector.
First joining the SG CIB ranks in 1994, Fournier held the position of Asian regional manager for trade and commodity in Singapore. Following this position, he then held the titles of head of corporate commodity finance team, based in Paris and head of oil and gas corporate and advisory for the commodity sector.
In these roles, Fournier had close ties with Asia, developing and tailoring SG CIB's regional strategy to fit into its global strategy.
Before hooking up with SG CIB, Fournier honed his credentials with various senior positions at Banque Paribas and BHF Bank in Paris and London. "Fournier brings extensive international sectoral knowledge to the Asia-Pacific region," comments Macagno. "We have a strong client base in the oil and gas sector in the region, with recognized expertise in project and commodity finance and the skills and resources to partner with our clients to meet their local and cross-border needs."
