Photos: Japan Institutional Investment Forum
More than 230 industry representatives gathered at the Tokyo Palace Hotel on March 10 for AsianInvestor's fifth Japan Institutional Investor Forum.
Guests heard from speakers including Hiromichi Mizuno, chief investment officer of the country's Government Pension Investment Fund, who set out his vision for deeper collaboration in the industry.
Executives from corporate pensions, meanwhile, set out how they planned to deal with an environment of negative interest rates in Japan, and discussed their increasing focus on private markets, in particular the role of private equity.
Asset managers looked at the growing focus on environmental, social and governance issues in the country and warned that the trend could be short-lived if asset owners did not allocate sufficient resources to ESG screening.
