New board member for State Street

Global custodian State Street corporation, appoints its nineteenth board member.

Gregory L Summe, chief executive officer and chairman of PerkinElmer, has been appointed to the board of directors at State Street Corporation. Summe is the nineteenth member of the board.

Summe joined PerkinElmer in January of 1998 as president and chief operating officer. Shortly after his arrival, the company transformed from one which was highly reliant on government contracting to a company exclusively focused on commercial high technology markets. By 1999, Summe was elected CEO and chairman of the board.

Prior to PerkinElmer, Summe was with AlliedSignal for five years in various positions, including president of general aviation avionics and president of Aerospace Engines.

"I am delighted to join State Street's board of directors," says Summe. "State Street's commitment to technology and focus on excellence makes it one of the most sophisticated global organizations in the industry."
