Narayanan joins Deutsche Bank's private equity team

Deutsche Bank's global investment banking division has appointed Shankar Narayanan as director of its Asian private equity business, DB Capital Partners (Asia), effective as of January 2001. Based in Hong Kong, Narayanan moves from the Chatterjee Group in Mumbai where he had headed up its private equity fund since November 1999.

Before joining the Chatterjee Group, Narayanan spent six years with Hathway Investments Ltd, in India, as the firm's managing director and chief executive officer, and prior to that was with Citibank.

Commenting on the appointment, Frank Nash, head of global investment banking in Asia, says: "Narayanan has a very impressive track record in India, having invested in a wide range of corporates spanning a variety of sectors. His long track record in running private equity businesses will be a major addition to DB Capital Partners (Asia)."

Since 1997, DB Capital Partners has invested over $2 billion in 150 companies across all stages of private equity, utilizing Deutsche Bank's platform to gain access to research, investment opportunities and capital markets expertise.
