More hiring activity for SSB in Korea
After appointing a new head of investment banking last week Salomon Smith Barney hires Wahid Butt as its new head of research for Korea.
In his new role Butt will cover the Korean auto sector, Korean mid-cap and have responsibility for the overall research team product. He will also be regional head of mid-cap research and be responsible for co-ordinating the mid-caps research product around the region.
He will report to Otto Wong, head of Asia Pacific research based in Hong Kong who says that Butt is highly recognized by many of Salomon Smith Barney's institutional clients and comes with many years of international experience. Butt comes most recently from Deutsche securities where he was head of Korea research and prior to that he worked for Indosuez W.I. Carr Securities in Pakistan, Singapore and Seoul.
