Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy appoints new managing partner
International law firm Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy has announced the appointment of Anthony Root as managing partner of the firm's Hong Kong office. He succeeds Douglas Tanner, who has relocated to Palo Alto in Calafornia to head Milbank's new Silicon Valley office.
Root has been a partner in the firm's global corporate finance group since 1996, focusing mainly on Asian corporate, mergers and acquisitions and restructuring transactions. His clients include Globe Telecom, JPMorgan, Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch, and he has been involved with UOB's high-profile acquisition for OUB in Singapore.
"Milbank now has one of the strongest and broadest practices in Asia with leadership positions in capital markets, M&A, banking and acquisition finance, project finance, leasing, restructuring and structured products," comments Root. "Since the mid-1990s we have pursued a diversified practice and geographic strategy to take advantage of shifts in country and practice cycles. This has enabled us to sustain high levels of activity and high quality work through varying country, product and business cycles."
