ING gains Taiwan financial markets head
ING Wholesale Banking has lured Phillip Chiu to its Taiwan operations as director, head of financial markets. Upon moving across from Deutsche Bank, Chiu will be responsible for all ING's financial markets activities in Taipei, including all fixed income, interest rate and foreign exchange trading. In addition, Chiu will also lend his skills in assisting with debt market origination and the delivery of structured products to clients.
In his new role, Chiu will report locally to Lawrence Liang, country head, Taiwan, and functionally to Mark Newman, head of financial markets, Asia.
Chiu comes on board after spending six years at Deutsche in Taiwan, where he was head of the short-term interest rate desk. At the German firm's Taipei offices, Chiu was also involved in senior client coverage and the establishment of a new trading platform to build up the floating rate product, foreign exchange option, euro dollar futures and overnight index swaps trading infrastructure.
Prior to working at Deutsche, Chiu also worked at American Express Bank and Chase Manhattan Bank in Taipei.
