Freeman Chan joins Norton Rose

Norton Rose has hired Freeman Chan as a partner in the firm's corporate finance department. Chan comes to the international law firm from Koo & Partners where he was a partner working on Hong Kong and China corporate finance transactions. At Norton Rose he will again concentrate on Hong kong and China deals.

"This high profile appointment is a major step in our strategic expansions of the Hong Kong office," said David Stannard, managing partner of Norton Rose in Hong Kong. "Since we opened in April this year, we have been building the business and Freeman joining us will enable us to move to a new level. The office has been working on a number of significant transactions and Freeman will enable us to expand the services we can offer to our local and international clients.

Chan will know his new colleagues quite well having worked on a number of deals with them in the past, one of which - the IPO of Guangshen Railway back in 1996 - he and Stannard handled together.
