DBS Securities gets two new faces: Lim from ABN, Lam from Schwab

Raymond Lim is leaving ABN Amro to take over as managing director of DBS Securities. In Hong Kong, DBS Securities has recruited Josephine Lam as head of retail dealing.
Raymond Lim has left his position as Chief Asian Economist at ABN Amro in Singapore to join DBS Securities as managing director. He replaces Chong Chin Cheong who is moving over to DBS’s private equity group.

Lim is a highly regarded figure in Singapore’s financial district. Prior to his role at ABN Amro, he held an executive position within Kim Eng Holdings. He is a member of the board of the Singapore Broadcasting Authority and is a member of its finance committee. He also serves on the Public Utilities Board and is an adviser to the juvenile court.

Commenting on the appointment, Greg Seow, chairman of DBS Securities said: "the securities business in Singapore and the region is fast deregulating and we intend to be ready. Raymond Lim’s appointment builds upon Chong Chin Cheong’s good work in introducing global best practices and repositioning DBS Securities as a leading participant in this more competitive environment.”

In addition to Lim’s appointment, DBS Securities is increasing its focus on its online trading business with the appointment of Josephine Lam as head of retail dealing in Hong Kong. Lam joins DBS from Charles Schwab where she has worked for the previous eight years – most recently as head of the firm’s Hong Kong operation. Her experience in online stock broking will be crucial for DBS if it is to succeed in the highly competitive area.
