The Editors
FinanceAsia announces the best financial institutions for each country around Asia.

This year we have selected five broad categories: Best Domestic Commercial Bank, Best Foreign Commercial Bank, Best Local Equities House, Best Local Currency Bond House and Best Investment Bank.

In the interests of clarity, we should state that the local equities house category is designed for local brokerage houses and looks primarily at their brokerage turnover and research output. The best investment bank category, on the other hand, focuses on an investment bank's equity capital markets ability, its M&A and advisory skills and the firm's activity in the international debt markets for clients from the respective country. It can be won by a domestic player or an international one.
