RAFFLES FAMILY OFFICE HIRES FORMER RBC EXECUTIVE AS COO
Raffles Family Office appointed Terence Chow as its group chief operating officer (COO), effective July 2. He will also be a member of the firm’s board of management.
Chow will be responsible for the family office’s business transformation, risk management, operational innovation, and corporate real estate and procurement functions.
Based in Hong Kong, he will report to Kwan Chi-man, group chief executive officer and co-founder.
Chow fills the vacancy left by Yvonne Siu, who left the family office in 2021.
Previously, Chow held several senior positions at the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), where he spent over 18 years and was most recently CEO wealth management, Asia.
AUSTRALIAN ETHICAL SUPER PUTS FORMER PRI CEO ON BOARD
Australian Ethical Superannuation (AES) appointed Fiona Reynolds to its board, effective July, the fund announced on July 3.
Reynolds formerly served as CEO of the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), the UN-supported international network of socially and environmentally responsible financial institutions.
AES’s board is chaired by non-executive director Steve Gibbs.
Reynolds has more than three decades of experience in responsible investing and superannuation. Her nine-year tenure as PRI’s CEO based in London grew its network to more than 4,000 signatories and 180 staff globally between 2013 and 2022, according to AES.
She also holds various leadership and advisory roles with FAIRR Initiative, the UN Global Compact Network Australia, Finance for Peace, and the Office of the NSW Anti-slavery Commissioner.
UBS AM NAMES CHRIS YIU AS INTERIM HK HEAD
UBS appointed Chris Yiu as head of Hong Kong ad interim for UBS Asset Management in June, AsianInvestor understands.
He became the unit’s deputy head in 2022. He takes over from Hayden Briscoe, who reportedly has left the firm after eight years following a recent leadership reshuffle.
Yiu is also head of client coverage wealth management and wholesale China and Hong Kong, responsible for managing and developing the wealth management and wholesale business, client service, and marketing efforts in mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau.
He is a member of the board of directors and UBS Asset Management Hong Kong management committee.
Yiu has been with UBS for nearly 10 years and served several leadership roles in wholesale client coverage Hong Kong and China for the asset management segment.
Before UBS, he held distribution and business development roles at Value Partners, ING Investment Management, and Allianz Global Investors.
KOREAN RE NAMES NEW UK CEO
Korean Re London, a wholly owned subsidiary of Seoul-based Korean Reinsurance, appointed David Sungjin Kim as CEO.
He will also continue maintaining his role as director of Korean Re underwriting.
Kim has been with Korean Re since 2007 and has held several roles both in Korea and the UK.
ADVENTS HIRES FOR NEW AUSTRALIA OFFICE
US private equity manager Advent International opened an office in Sydney and appointed Beau Dixon as head of Australia and New Zealand.
Advent did not respond to AsianInvestor’s request for comments on the reporting line at the time of publication.
Dixon was most recently managing partner at Australian private equity firm Anchorage Capital Partners. He was also member of the investment committee. Anchorage did not respond to a request for comments at the time of publication.
Advent also has offices in India and China in the Asia Pacific.
CUSHMAN & WAKEFIELD HIRES SUSTAINABILITY HEAD IN JAPAN
Real estate services firm Cushman and Wakefield appointed Saeka Kuno as Japan head of sustainability, effective June 1.
She reports to Matt Clifford, head of sustainability and ESG in Asia Pacific, a spokesperson told AsianInvestor, declining to comment on Kuno's predecessor.
Prior to joining Cushman and Wakefield, Saeka worked as a sustainability and energy consultant at Longevity Partners, advising real estate investment companies on sustainability initiatives for individual properties and entire portfolios.
Saeka has also served as a council member of Global Environment Fund for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She also held European branches at Mizuho Bank and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation.
