HSBC names new Asia wealth chief
HSBC has named the new Asia head of its wealth management business.
The bank has appointed Guilherme Lima as its regional head of Premier and wealth business for Asia Pacific. Based in Hong Kong, Lima assumed the newly-created position on May 18. He reports to Charlie Nunn, group head of wealth management, and to Kevin Martin, regional head of retail banking and wealth management for Asia Pacific.
Last week, HSBC moved two senior executives. It appointed London-based Simon Collier as global head of wealth solutions, replacing Malik Sarwar who held the position for four years in Hong Kong. Collier will remain in London.
Sarwar has been appointed global head of client sales, based in Hong Kong. Both report to Nunn. An HSBC spokesperson confirmed the new appointments.
According to Lima’s LinkedIn profile, he was most recently head of retail and wealth management for Latin America. From August 2013 to May 2015, he led the business in Mexico, Brazil and Argentina. The business is composed of 25,000 staff, 10 million clients and 2,500 branches across the three countries.
Lima joined HSBC in September 2010 in London as group head of strategy before moving to retail and wealth management. He was hired from management consultancy McKinsey, where he was a partner.
Collier was global head of wealth and insurance business services in HSBC’s global service delivery unit for three years prior to this new appointment. Before joining HSBC, he was a director at Sondent Group.
Sarwar joined HSBC as global head of wealth solutions in 2011 in Hong Kong. According to an industry source, Sarwar was brought into HSBC by former group head of wealth management Simon Williams, who left the bank in January this year to join a US-based firm. Williams was replaced by Nunn, who was formerly chief operating officer based in Hong Kong. Nunn is now based in London.
