BEA Union loses CIO, adds portfolio manager
BEA Union Investment Management has undergone a number of senior personnel changes, including the departure of its chief investment officer earlier this month. Elke Schoeppl-Jost left after six years with the Hong Kong asset manager.
The firm has already started to search for a replacement, and in the meantime CEO Eleanor Wan will oversee the CIO responsibilities.
Schoeppl-Jost’s future plans could not be ascertained, and a spokeswoman declined to comment.
Separately, the firm hired Simone Loke as a senior equity portfolio manager based in Hong Kong, what the firm says is a newly created role. She joined this month after working for seven-and-a-half years at TD Asset Management as a director responsible for managing international equities in Toronto.
Before that, Loke worked at Atlantic Investment Management, a long/short equity hedge fund in New York as a senior equity analyst. She also worked at Wardley Investment Services (which later became HSBC Asset Management), Citi and Ernst & Whinney, all in Hong Kong.
In September, BEA Union had also added Kirk Yip as a vice president on its sales team. He replaces Anthony Yung who left in July after two years to join Nomura Asset Management as a vice president in institutional business development focused on Greater China.
Yip previously worked at Mirae Asset Global Investments in Hong Kong, most recently as deputy head of sales for two-and-a-half years.
