ABN Amro Private Banking names North Asia head
Ian Pollock is joining ABN Amro as head of private banking in North Asia, marking his return to the sector after departing from rival VP Bank in October.
In his new role, effective on May 13, Pollock will oversee ABN Amro's North Asia private banking business in the markets of Hong Kong, mainland China and Taiwan, as well as the Philippines.
He will also become a member of ABN Amro's Asia and Middle East private banking management team and Hong Kong country management team.
Pollock, based in Hong Kong, will replace Arjan de Boer, who is being promoted to a senior position within the global operations of ABN Amro, says Hans-Peter Borgh, the firm's chief commercial officer for private banking in Asia and the Middle East.
Borgh, speaking to AsianInvestor, declined to provide further details of Boer's new role, saying an announcement would be made in the near future.
Pollock joins ABN from Liechtenstein-based boutique VP Bank, where he served as Asia CEO for a brief nine-month stint that started in January last year. VP has no plans to fill the post he vacated.
A private banking veteran in Asia, Pollock has previously held regional senior management positions at Julius Baer, HSBC Private Bank and Republic National Bank of New York.
His appointment is the latest at ABN Amro's private banking business which last year hired Jacqueline Koo from Julius Baer as head of Asian discretionary portfolio management.
