Prudential and Schroders hire new sales heads
Two more senior asset-management sales executives have switched firms.
Prudential Corporation Asia's fund management business has hired Beonca Yip from Lyxor Asset Management as regional head of retail, while Sophina Hui has moved from Amundi Asset Management to Schroder Investment Management as Hong Kong head of institutional clients.
Yip reports to Graham Mason, Hong Kong-based chief executive of fund management for Asia. She will also serve on the board of Prudential’s Taiwan business and its China joint venture, Citic-Prudential Fund Management. She assumes responsibility for all offshore distribution and marketing activities across the region.
Yip’s role has been established in line with Mason’s plans for the region, which will include a greater focus on building the retail business in the core hub markets of Singapore and Hong Kong, as well as on the offshore business and investment-linked products.
There had been a regional marketing and business development role in place some months ago, which broadly covered institutional and retail business. That role was previously held by Suraj Mishra, who since February has been Malaysia CEO for Prudential Fund Management.
Yip brings to Prudential 15 years’ experience in retail fund sales and distribution in the Asian asset management industry. Most recently, she was head of sales and marketing for Asia ex-Japan at Lyxor AM, part of Société Générale. She has also served as chief marketing officer of Société Générale AM in Asia.
Yip has also worked at Jardine Fleming Investment Management and HSBC Investment Management in Hong Kong.
In her role at Schroders, Hui reports to Kelvin Lee, head of institutional business, and covers both client servicing and business development. She succeeds KP Luk, who recently moved to a similar post at US asset manager Fidelity after 16 years with Schroders.
She has 10 years' experience in the industry, having previously served as Greater China head of institutional business at Amundi AM, in an institutional marketing role at Franklin Templeton Investments and in an investment analyst role at ING Baring Private Equity.
